Projection TV furniture There are several different types of
rear projection TV furniture available, depending on how much available room
space you've got to work with and the number and types of additional audio video equipment
you plan on integrating with your high definition television.
Optional A/V equipment that many people like to connect to their rear projection HDTV include an HD receiver for viewing digital cable or satellite HDTV programming, a Blu-ray Disc or (HD) DVD player, home theater receiver and surround sound speaker system, iPod, home network, etc.
Depending on the
specific TV furniture you buy, some assembly may be required -- only the most expensive furniture comes pre-assembled. Obviously, you'll need to complete all furniture assembly before you can set up your big screen TV and the rest of your home
theater surround sound audio system.
Projection TV wall units allow you to locate your big screen TV either on the floor for
the "old school" CRT rear projection TVs or on a
separate stand for DLP, LCD, LCOS
projection televisions -- and surrounding the television on both sides
would be a tall pier unit with muliple shelves -- and sometimes also above by a bridge that spans across the top.
Both infrared and RF remote controls can function through most glass doors, but keep in mind that bookshelf speakers placed to the sides of your projection TV will need open piers so the sound isn't blocked by glass. |
Projection TV entertainment centers usually take up less space in your living room compared to projection TV wall units.
Projection TV stands like the Walker Edison black TV stand
from Overstock pictured below keep your DLP, LCD, or LCOS rear projection television off the floor and raise it to the proper
viewing height and also hold your audio/video components beneath.

Most projection TV
manufacturers offer a perfectly matching TV stand designed
exclusively for specific TV models. See the individual TV brand
pages for more information about the matching stands. |
