All of the rear projection TVs
featured on this website have at least a built-in digital ATSC HDTV tuner, so you should be able to receive and view your local
off the air broadcast network HD channels by connecting an appropriate HDTV antenna to the antenna input on the back of your TV. If that's all the HD programming you desire, you won't need
to buy an external ATSC tuner. However, if you've got an older HD-ready television that you've purchased several years ago that lacks an integrated HDTV tuner
(or are setting up front projection TV using a home theater projector and projection screen - projectors lack television tuners), you'll need to connect a high definition
tuner to view HDTV programming. Priced under $200, the
popular Samsung HDTV digital terrestrial receiver is below.

You can
read tons of reviews and buy your Samsung DTBH260F HDTV receiver online from Abt. Besides Abt, you can also read reviews and
purchase the Samsung DTBH260F ATSC HD receiver online at Amazon.com. Also available from J&R.
Even if your rear projection HDTV has an integrated ATSC tuner, you may still want to expand your HD programming horizons beyond the limited free off the air local stations you can
get from an antenna. |
HDTV Receivers For HD Satellite TV or Cable TV
Satellite TV HDTV The two primary
providers of HD programming packages from a digital satellite
dish in the United States are DIRECTV and Dish Network. If you're an
existing customer of either service and want to upgrade to HDTV
satellite service, your best bet is to contact them directly.
They may offer you deals on leasing/buying HD satellite receivers. You'll
probably want a separate "set top box" for each of
your HDTVs that you want to watch HD satellite TV programming. You may also need to replace your existing satellite dish and
upgrade to an oval HDTV satellite dish.
►If you've never before been a satellite dish customer, you should compare new customer satellite HDTV TV specials available from DIRECTV and Dish Network.
Cable TV HDTV Contact your local cable TV provider (Charter, Comcast, Time Warner, etc.), to find out more about the specific HD programming packages they offer. |
